wellbutrin xl by sierra
Hello first can I say that thus message board has been very reassuring. It helps to know I'm not alone. I am taking wb xl 150 mg. A day and this is only my 3rd day, I already a feel an increase in energy, if I'm feeling physical effects already does that mean the emotional effects have started?    (Fri Sep 22 1:43 2006)

I just started taking Wellbutrin 300mg this week, the only effect it has had on me is dry mouth and dry eyes. I was prescribed 150mg but didn't finish the week and I've already missed one dose of the 300mg. Will this affect me in any way? Should I go back and finish the 150mg dosage?    (Thu Sep 14 21:06 2006)

I am on celexa 15 mg for about 9 onths now. It was prescribed for seevre anxiety and panic disorder. It helped a lot, I had no weight gain, only horrible side effects while increasing and adjusting to the dosage. I still have not reached 20 mg though. While the anxiety gets better, my sex drive dimished, and eventually it disappeared! I am desperate to understand what can I do to help it, while still having control over panic attacs and anxiety? Is there any help?   (Thu Sep 14 11:44 2006)

Some people have to take one tablet in the morning and one at night or try a second oppinion...that is just not right to be feeling that way even go to a family practictioner. Or ask you obgyn(nurse practiontiner) tell her what is going on and what she recommends. You can usually leave a message with a receptionist and have them get back to you. Tell her what you take how much and your feelings on the meds and see what she recommends.   (Sun Sep 10 7:57 2006)

Hi Everyone, I can sympothize with you all. I have been haveing anxiety and panic attacks for the last 6years. I was on paxil and did great except for the weight gain but figured it was better than the panic attacks. After a year got off and felt normal except it took about a month. Two years later the panic attacks came back..all do to stress is what they tell me. Now I am on Lexpro and wellbutrin and feel great. You have to give the meds time to get into your system 2wks to a month. Yes you feel like you can't think right and spaced out. But after a month you get a normal feeling again. Wellbutrin for me gave me a lift. Everyone is different. Wellbutrin is also keeps you from not being so hungry. When you feel good you eat and when we are depressed we eat. Try to only eat when hungry not because of emotion. Easier said than done. A friend is a pharmasist and said that wellbutrin will not make you gain weight its the emotions we are having that makes us gain weight. So far I have lost 5lbs. I know that we all have our own demons we just need to know what they are. Mine happens to be stress and it puts me in such a outrageous panic attack I hypervenalate so bad I cryple myself up. They have to shoot me up with a tranquilzer to get me to relax. Now I have clapizapam and I put one under my tongue and it will kick in about 15 minutes. So I understand what you are all going thru. Wellbutrin worked for me also brought back my sexual feeling. I had problems with no sex drive. "Do Not Touch Me" is how I felt with my husband and now its alot better. I craved Sugary foods like cookies cakes candy soda the wellbutrin help me not crave so much. Know its my bad habits of all these months eating that and trying to break the habit. That is HARD! I wish you all the best and I hope you can find a med that works for you. My sister is on Effexor and wellbutrin..That is good combo for her...she was always tired, crying and just thought everyone was against her. She took it for a year and is doing well. Did not gain any weight. Hope this information helped someone..I have read alot about these drugs and they say there is no long term affects. But remember to get off the meds is hard and you have to get past the side affects just like you did getting on. My doctor recommends excercise or comedy shows, and sex they bring up your seritonin level. Just 10 minutes of walking or laughing something to bring the spirit up... My problem is my body does not make enough seritonin and I need the meds to make them for me. I read that many people have the same problems. So take care I will check in and see how you are all doing.   (Sun Sep 10 7:48 2006)

I have been on Zoloft for years. My pcp referred me to a psychiatrist re changing from Zoloft to something else. the psychiatrist has put me on Wellbutrin xl 150 milligrams 1st 4 days now I'm at 300. I am still taking Zoloft and I am weaning off.I feel anxiuos sometimes and very depressed and angry (which may be good since in the past I wouldn't tell people how I felt... now I do) I'm concerned re these reactions. Is this something that goes away with time? I've been on this med for approximately 3 weeks.   (Sat Sep 9 16:54 2006)

I have read the reviews and am amazed how awful people feel taking Wellbutrin. I took PAXIL and gained 50 lbs. I was so depressed, I stopped taking the PAXIL but didn't lose any of the weight. I just started taking the Wellbutrin and have been given something in addition for anxiety attacks should they occur. I told my doctor I refuse to go back to PAXIL, so I'm willing to give the Wellbutrin a try. I have been really angry and mean and in the "poor me's" since going off the PAXIL. I'm counting on the Wellbutrin to put me in a better frame of mind.    (Fri Sep 8 23:38 2006)

night sweats by SHANNON
hey... ive been on effexor for a while now, 150mg and wellbutrin but even before wellbutrin i was getting these weird night sweats, not as constant though... i dont feel hot or cold, i just wake up in the middle of the night and have to change my clothes head to toe and even flip my covers over and change my pillows... it happens sometimes 3-4 times a night.

its bareable but i still hate it    (Thu Sep 7 14:03 2006)

Hi everyone. Am 52, have a good life, but had a tentative diagnosis years ago of both depression and ADD. I did nothing. Now in my mid-life I have decided to try a med. I was on 150 mg of Wellbutrin (generic- Bupropion) for a week and now 300 for one week so far, which my doc said I could take together in the morning but never later than mid day as it can make you have insomnia.
I am finding I am more productive and can stay with tasks longer. However, I am sleeping less. I am also feeling anxiety in the afternoons. Really strange doom-like feeling which I've rarely had.I don't like that at all. I will give it a try for a month and see how it goes. I also had bad headaches the first week. the 2nd day I took it I didn't sleep a wink all night.I wonder if messing with my chemistry is all that good, but I really have a hard time getting focused and finishing tasks, and this seems to help me with that problem. New to this forum and it means a lot to me to read all your posts.   (Wed Aug 30 2:39 2006)

I have Dysthymia. Had it for years. A combo of Welbutrin XL 150, Trileptal, and Lexapro really helped. Plus CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy group) training and Recovery Inc. Trust me. You will feel better with meds and counseling. Jobs, other people and places are all "externals". Internals are brain chemistry (treatable) and feeling (analysable). Life will get better. Exercise helps too, even if it's just a 20-30 minute walk EACH DAY. Social activities such as classes or non-judgemental churches or hobby clubs help too. Lots of good How-To books available at your local Public Librarya.   (Mon Aug 28 15:53 2006)

After 8 sessions with a therapist, I am considering an antidepressant. I've been told I have dysthymia. I have experiened the double depression mentioned in context with dysthymia - a few times in the last few years. Usually just finding a reason several days in a row to cry about what is bothering me (difficult career situation, impacts of having to move or change careers to find something better, and balancing a relationship with all that). I must say I am nervous reading about all the meds and doses and time it takes to work it out. Anyone here been diagnosed with dysthymia? When reseaching depression I usually encounter the more serious forms of depression than dysthymia so I don't know how all the different treatments apply since the term "depressive" is so broad. My main thing is I "gave it all" for my job and my current bosses have let me down (moved across the country for a job). I feel trapped by my job now, unable to maintain a relationship since I must move to find something better (or to promote), and my family is half the country away. Of course, she can't move with me. And I feel guilty for living this "double life" with her or without her. I don't want to lose her - I don't know how it will ever work out. Ugh. Sometimes I don't know if its dysthymia or all the huge decisions in my mind. It wasn't really much of an issue until I moved into this current job 4 years ago. So I wonder about dysthymia vs stress vs not having a plan to make it work. I think about it way too much, which doesn't help at all. It seems I am building a wall with my girlfriend because two years from now, or whenever I get a chance to move, I'll have saved us both a lot of heartache. Has anybody been here before? Also, does anybody else feel weird "flashes" or "sensations" roll over them like a wave? Between my heart/chest and neck? Not like you are full of love and at peace with the world, or a shiver, but a emptier sensation? Thanks.   (Sat Aug 26 17:20 2006)

*switching

Right now I'm waiting for approval through my health plan for Cipralex (switching from Celexa)- has anyone taken Wellbutrin along with an SSRI to perhaps combat the sexual side effects?   (Sat Aug 26 16:15 2006)

Everything I've read and heard indicates that Wellbutrin should never be prescribed for anyone with notable anxiety?
My doctor tried switing me from Celexa to Wellbutrin (depression/OCD/anxiety) a while back, and my anxiety almost instantly went through the roof! Needless to say, I didn't take the Wellbutrin for long.   (Sat Aug 26 16:11 2006)

well I started taking wellbutrin about six months ago and more and more every day im noticing that my attitude and anger are getting stronger and im getting mean real mean my kids dont want to be around me I snap there head of at the drop of a hat ....it started when my doctor took my hormones away and said well i give you this and it will help well its been six months and the only thing I want to do is rip his head off Ive repeatedly told him its not working and he just ignores me not to mention wanting to drive my car off the nearest bridge is what i think about all the time .........HELP what to do   (Mon Aug 21 11:20 2006)

I have been on this dosage for years now; I still feel very "zippy" (aka anxious) in the a.m. -- I take it at night before bed. This is simply because of the type of medication it is -- it IS an upper. For the most part, I have felt very "level;" however, I still have my down moments, which I partially attribute to hormonal levels (ladies, you have to remember that anti-deps. don't eliminate all of the hormonal factors in our lives!), but for the most part, this drug has been pretty good for me. It does take quite a while for the body to assimilate a new dosage and a new drug, so you really have to give things time, and this could be MONTHS. Hang in there, y'all.   (Fri Aug 18 13:28 2006)

I have been on Zoloft for about 8 months.  I have gained about 12 lbs.  My moods still seem to be so up and down and I still have some anxiety.  Will Wellbutrin work    (Thu Aug 10 12:33 2006)

Anxiety by kim
I'll give you the short version. Was on Zoloft for 2 years
felt great no sex gained weight. I have been off everything
except Xanex for 3 years but feel the need to go back.  My
Dr wants to put me on Lexopro 10 mg I suggested WB XL.
I have mild anxiety but feel very depressed and
unmotivated.  I get very stressed out with terrible mood
swings and of course social anxiety is a huge thing with
me.  I'm a photographer so I'm around 100-500 people in
one weekend.  So I've decided to give WB XL a chance.  I'm
just so nervous about the chance I will have increased
anxiety and anger.  But I just don't think I can take
anything that is like Zoloft.  She told me to take the WB XL
in conjuction with Xanex and give it a try and maybe the
symtoms will go away in a few weeks.I'm nervous because
Paxil made be hallucinate and dialated my pupils and
Buspar made me have a weird sensation of shocks going
through my body.  Zoloft was great no harmful side-
effects except for no sex drive and major weight gain and
I laid around a lot.  Any thoughts would be greatly
appreciated.   (Thu Aug 3 17:58 2006)

Linda by Cathy W.
I just happened to jump over to this board even though I recently weaned from Celexa (June 12) because I was curious as to the discussions on the boards for other SSRIs. From my experience, the withdrawal is much worse for some people than others.  For me it was BRUTAL!  Over the past six years I had tried Zoloft, Paxil, Celexa, Effexor XR, Paxil CR, and Celexa again.  When I tried to wean from the Effexor, I ended up in the ER and they had no idea what was wrong with me.  Just some of my symptoms were trembling, diarrhea, headaches, brain zaps, feelings of mania.  I was beside myself mentally.  Well, after not leaving the bed at my mom's house for a few days(I stayed there because I couldn't cope at home) and not eating or showering, I finally went to my primary doctor and then a psychiatrist.  She told me my symptoms were anxiety disorder, which I never had prior to the pills, and that I should start on Paxil immediately and Xanax.  I did and ended up gaining about 20 pounds within about two months.

Well, obviously the symptoms minimized quite a bit, but I still didn't feel well.  I never felt well on SSRIs, but was afraid to go off.  Finally, several months ago I decided I was going to get off.  At that time, I was on Celexa again.  After reading how severe withdrawal can be and that my symptoms I previously experienced WERE withdrawal and not an anxiety disorder, I decided I would do it to see how I felt.

It took me quite a while though.  I was at 20mg when I started and dropped down to 10 mg for quite a while.  I really felt it for quite some time and waited until I seemed to level out and my body and brain adjusted.  After six years, I kept telling myself it would take time.  Then I dropped to 5 mg for quite a while and waited again.  With each drop in dose, I really noticed it.  I got body aches, severe fatigue, chills, headaches, etc...  I kept talking to others who went through it and of course God and that really helped.  My next drop was to 2.5 mg and eventually I was taking a teeny tiny speck of a pill.  Even when I went off that tiny piece, I really felt it.  After the first month, I was still noticing symptoms, but realized I felt like "me" again and that felt great!  Now, after about 52 days, I feel a lot better.  My memory has gotten a lot better and the weight has been coming off.  I still talk to others in the forum because I have become so close to them.  I am not saying I don't have moments, but I feel that God has brought me this far and I am so thankful for that, and I believe He will continue to carry me through.  I'm sorry this is so long, but I want to share and help if I can.  There is a book out that talks about people literally shaving pieces off of pills while weaning in order to do it successfully.

Just curious what dose you are at now.  Why not stay at the low dose and let your body and brain adjust and then see how you feel.  It seems like doctors just don't realize how much these can effect the body and brain.  One of the friends I made in the forum, Tony, has the book Prozac, Panacea or Pandora?, and it says that SSRIs can take up to a year to completely get out of the system.  I hope this helps somehow, and I pray you find the right answers for you.  God bless you.   (Thu Aug 3 15:20 2006)

I recently switched from Zoloft to Wellbutrin XL, slowly weaning myself from Zoloft and increasing the Wellbutrin as my doctor recommended.  Although I had suffered some anxiety in the past, when on Zoloft, I had a bad episode almost immediately after going off Zoloft completely.  I have had insomnia all week, and I find myself crying with little provocation and inappropriately, as I used to do before I took any meds at all.  This is quite a change, since I found myself unable to cry at all when I was on Zoloft. I'm going to stick it out for a few more weeks, but I'm not sure I like this medication.  As for sexual side effects, I had them with Zoloft, and they are disappearing on Wellbutrin.    (Thu Aug 3 13:13 2006)

Hi I am currently on 50mg of zoloft daily and will be switching to WB 100mg daily to start. I was concerned about the sexual side effects of zoloft. Does WB work better for people in this area?  Also I am concerned about the panic and anxiety side effects as I have had these in the past when I was not on any meds. Any comments would be helpful, thanks.   (Thu Aug 3 11:36 2006)

SSRI's by Tammy
Hi.

I'm looking for some opinions on this question.

When taking antidepressants for anxiety, do you think that your brain becomes too dependant on the drug and that when you try and wean off - the tapering off causes so much withdrawal that people can't get off the drug?

Anyone had any success on weaning off an SSRI - and how did you do it?

Thanks.   (Thu Aug 3 0:58 2006)

WB - Scott by Linda
Hi Scott.

First of all - I'm not a dr.  However, that seems to be a very large doseage jump.  I would take a guess that it's the drug making you feel that way. Probably too much entering your system too quickly. Ask your dr. if you can work your way up to 300 if you feel like you are needing to increase the doseage.  How come the 150 isn't working anymore - if you don't mind that I'm asking?

I have been trying to work up to a full pill of celexa.  i've been taking a 1/2 pill for 1 month.  increased the dose to 3/4 of pill for 5 days.  The side effects were really bothering me, so on the 6th day I decided to go back down to a 1/2 pill and the next day -I had horrible anxiety - I was crying too.

I think these SSRI's effect people differently and it's really hard to guage this kind of stuff.

Make an appointment with your dr. right away.  Hang in there!

SSRI's by Cathy W - By Linda
Hi Cathy.

Thank you for your note.  Much appreciated. I had spent close to 2 months trying to wean off the sertraline - and I was just struggling with anxiety too much. My dr. informed me it was not the drug (as she has had other patients wean off a lot more quickly than what I did), it was the anxiety returning. How on earth were you able to do it??

It's tough to know if the anxiety is caused by trying to wean off the drug, or it's the symptoms returning.  Hence, I'm trying a very low doseage of celexa, however, it's been really tough to work up to even a full dose as the side effects are nasty.

Have you found that your symptoms which you had before have returned now that you are drug free?

I'm a christian too and have asked God for guidance and strength many many times - but it's hard. On very bad days, I've often asked him - why me?

Thanks for the ear Cathy.

WB by Scott re: wellbutrin and isolation
I just went up from 150mg of WB to 300mg and started feeling fine for the first couple days until today (the 3rd day). I had a panick attack where my heart felt like it was going to jump out of my chest and my mind was going 100mph while I was at work. This has never happened to me before. When I finally got home all I could do was isolate myself from my family and curl up and cry. For the others of you out there who were discussing anxiety and isolation, I believe mine has been caused by too much Wellbutrin in my system. I don't know if I should stick with the 300s and run the course or just go bck to 150s.     (Wed Aug 2 22:38 2006)

Betty by Cathy W.
My advice is to go SLOW!  Every time I dropped down a dose, it was really rough for several days.  Even after I was completely off, I still had symptoms surface every now and then.  I can honestly say that I couldn't imagine being off these as of a few months ago because I unsuccessfully tried to wean before, but I am daily amazed at what God has brought me through.  I pray that you will soon be drug-free as well.  "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but He has given unto us a spirit of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."  God bless you!   (Wed Aug 2 0:21 2006)

Linda by Cathy W.
I tried a number of SSRIs over the past six years and the side effects were far worse than I ever felt prior to taking them.  Including the weight gain.  I was previously unable to wean and went through horrible withdrawl.  I recently weaned from Celexa - 50 days ago - and although it took quite a while to get completely off and symptom free, it was well worth it.  Each time I went down a dose, it took my body several days to level off.  It was horrible at times, but I tried to remind myself that my body and mind needed to adjust.  I eventually went down to just a teeny piece of a pill and then finally nothing.

I am not a doctor, but just a bit of advice.  Don't think that just because you have weaned off something and feel anxiety it is because of you.  I wasn't put on SSRIs for anxiety in the first place, but felt horrible anxiety when weaning and even for quite some time right after.  Give your body and mind some more time to adjust to being drug-free.  I pray this helps you.    (Wed Aug 2 0:15 2006)

I was on Lexapro for over a year and was starting to feel very tired and depressed. I switched to WB yesterday and well I am feeling tired again and SPACY. Is really happening this quickly after starting?

Wellbutrin by Lisa
I have been taking wellbutrin xl for apprx 5 weeks. I first started on 150mg and then a week ago my dr upped the dose to 300mg. I have more energy now but I am having some trouble with minor anxiety and feeling spaced out. I was hoping this was just due to adjusting to a higher dose, but I don't know. Will this go away? and has anyone else had the same experience. I was on paxil, lexapro and zoloft without success.   (Thu Jul 27 19:26 2006)

I started taking wellbutrin SR 150mg 3 weeks ago to this date.  I'm 37 and have never had major depression, i have always just gotten the blues every now and then.  I've found that the older i get though, i've been having more anxiety & panic attacks and recently went to the hospital for dizziness and was all clear.  They put me on wellbutrin and i noticed a little improvement the first week or so and since then it's been a downhill slide, haziness, lethargy, confusion, can't concentrate, just don't feel good, now i'm at anxiety and panic attacks.  I see doctor tomorrow but am very uncertain about the outcome of using this medication.   (Thu Jul 27 16:00 2006)

OCD/Anxiety by Linda
Hi.

I was taking a very low dose of setraline for 4 years to help treat ocd/anxiety, however, the physical side effects were horrible (including a 15 lb weight gain)

My Dr. recently weaned me off of the drug, however, I've been extremely emotional and my anxiety has returned.

She is now switched me to a very low dosage of celexa. Has anyone had success with celexa?  Do the side effects eventually go away? (hunger pains, teeth grinding, insomnia.)

I've also packed on about 15 pounds from the setraline.  How can I get rid of the weight?

Thank you.   (Thu Jul 27 1:10 2006)

My doctor switched me from Lexapro to Wellbutrin.  The first couple of days I felt fine.  I have been on it for not quite 2 weeks now and I am having dizziness and vertigo type feelings off and on.  Dry eyes and intense dreams. I am taking 150mg once a day.  I am not sure if what I am feeling is because I stopped the Lexapro cold turkey or because I started the Wellbutrin.  Any advice?     (Wed Jul 26 20:30 2006)

I tried getting off Effexor 4 times because the extra 25
lbs. I gained around my middle was really effecting my
bad spine. I had horrible withdrawls. The doc finally got it
right...For two weeks cut the Effexor down to 37.5mg and
add 150mg of Wellbutrin. The third week discontinue all
Effexor and increase Wellbutrin to 300mg. (150mg in am,
150mg late in day. I've had NO withdrawls and I haven't
felt this good in 2 years.

I have been on Wellbutrin 300mg for about 4 months now. This med for me has most certainly had its ups and downs. I am so irritable and anxious even now. I`m so afraid to come off of this med because of the fact of when I went down to 150mg I began having terrible hot flashes, cold sweats, horrible anxiety and for me I have panic disorder, is extremely hard to deal with. I would very much love to find a way to cope with all my anxiety and panic attacks some other way not including meds. I wake up with my heart racing all the time. I feel so lousy and wonder if my life will ever return to normal.I`ve decided to hand my problems over to a higher power and I have faith that things will come together! God Bless ......   (Mon Jul 24 23:34 2006)

Hi y'all- I'm new to this- just found it today. I have enjoyed reading all your posts and relating to some of you. I started with Lexapro and was on that for 4 months. That was great for my anxiety but eventually it was bringing me way down and causing me to be lathargic and exhausted/tired all the time. My doc then put me on Wellbutrin. I've been on Wellbutrin for 3 weeks now. I started with 150 for the first week and then went to the 300. The 300 was way too much for me and I was able to get back on the 150s. BUT now I still get dizzy spells throughout the day, am tired, am edgy, easily irritated, can't concentrate, and get mad way to easily. I feel like I should just stop all this medication all together. It's been more of an annoyance and hinderance than a help. And the alcohol just won't work when I'm on it. It makes things worse after one drink and I feel aweful the next day. What do y'all think about this? Should I just stop it all or do as some of you have mentioned and stick with it for a couple more months?
Thanks!   (Mon Jul 24 14:23 2006)

Zoloft & WB by Tina
Just wanted to let anyone who is on these 2 meds. to know, my 17 yr. old neice has been on these meds. successfully for 2 years. She has also been in therapy. She would take the Zoloft at night and the WB in the morning. She's an A student and plays the flute. The meds. have really helped her, and as we speak she is being weened off the wellbutrin successfully and the zoloft is next. So they can be helpful and it can be temporary. Hope this helps some. God Bless All.    (Sun Jul 23 14:01 2006)

Denise...I am taking it as well as Zoloft there won't be any transition from one to the other. Did you get any other side effects like more anxiety or anything like that? I have read a whole lot on what people have to say and they say it makes you cry a whole lot! I don't know if this is just without another pill to play it off or what not. I was also wondering if you had any increase or decrease in wieght cause I know when I took Paxil I gained like 40 pounds in 2 months. I am really hoping that it doesn't infact effect everything else cause I don't have much time to worry about relapesing into a long anxiety driven life again... Thank you for the first response and I look fforward to hearing back from you or anyone else who has any insight on the two meds together.   (Sun Jul 23 2:52 2006)

Nicole --- I have taken Wellbutrin 150 with Zoloft and it works well. I took the Zoloft with the Wellbutrin as a transition from Zoloft to the Wellbutrin. Then again I took them together during PMS week monthly, as prescribed by my doctor. I will tell you it depends on the person talking the medication how well it works. I know of someone who took Wellbutrin and it made them agitated/irritated/unable to sleep. The Zoloft with it should even out those symptoms, however, in the small chance you should have them.  Wellbutrin works on on dopamine levels in the brain while Zoloft is a serotonin level inhibitor. I hope that helps...Best to you!   (Sat Jul 22 15:23 2006)

has anyone taken Zoloft with wellbutrin? I am 23 years old and like 4 years ago I started getting anxiety so bad that I wouldn't drive for like 3 months. Everything got better until I came off of it last summer and my dad my niece and my nephew and my bestfriend all got viral menengitis... I suddenly had a relapes and have now been back on zoloft for a year recently I went to the doctor determined to get off the zoloft and quit smoking. The doctor told me that he wanted me to go on wellbutrin xl 150mg cause while I am on the Zoloft all I seem to do is sleep. Has anyone taken the combination before? I am about to start it but have not as of yet...   (Sat Jul 22 11:45 2006)

wellbutrin by syllop
Has anyone lose weight being on wellbutrin...I see it is suppose to not make you crave carbs like most antidepressant pills do?  Just wondering!!   (Sun Jul 16 11:30 2006)

Hi I just started wellburtrin sr 150mg.  I am also having a bit of anxiety.  I take lexapro for panic attacks and was doing well except for sexual side affects. I have been dealing with anxiety and panic attacks now for 6 years..I get nervous to drive places but I still try to I take a caplaspam if I am over anxious and that really works for me.  I feel for all of you because it just dosen't seem fair to have this going on.  But you would not believe how many people have anxiety. I also carry an air tube so when I get worked up I can take deep breaths.  Works everytime.  And remember YOU CAN NOT MAKE YOURSELF HAVE AN ANXIETY ATTACK   "ITS THE FEAR OF NOT WANTING TO HAVE ONE THAT BRINGS IT ON".  Just try to keep a posivtive outlook.  If you feel axnious just tell yourself you are ok and you can get through this because you can.   (Sun Jul 16 10:37 2006)

Hi, Betty.  I'm so sorry to hear about your current status while on Wellbutrin.  I too became extremely irritable while on Wellbutrin, among other side-effects.  The only thing that I have found that works for my anxiety is acupuncture, that Chinese form of alternative medicine.  I know it sounds crazy -- needles, what??? -- and I was really skeptical about it myself, but I too was at my wit's end and someone told me to look into it.  I can honestly say that after only two to three sessions, I started to feel immensely better -- far better than I have ever felt on medicaiton.  And if you do some reearch about acupuncture and depression online, the results are quite staggering.  I wish I'd known about this years ago!  Good luck!   (Thu Jul 13 4:27 2006)

checking in by Tina
Sorry I haven't check in for awhile. My mom has been keeping me very busy. She had a stroke 3 yrs. ago and I'm her major caretaker. She's had a few health problems...so I've been busy with hospital and doctor visits. April how are your dizzy spells? Betty I hope you have gone back to your doctor to adjust/change your meds. Your too young to be having all these problems, and it's got to be tuff with little ones to care for too!! Teri it took about 4 weeks for me to feel better on the WB. The insomnia can be a problem I've heard. I don't have that problem because I take Seroquel at night and about 20 mins. after I take it I'm asleep for a good 6-8 hrs. Maybe your doctor can perscribe something for you to take for sleep. The crying could be your emotions surfacing. I went through that for awhile and now I cry only when it's appropriate. My therapist explained that when anti depressants start working, emotions start surfacing and the crying can occur. Give it another week or two before you give up. Most meds. take 4 to 6 wks. to get into your system. Good Luck everyone, I'm still praying for all os us. Take care!   (Tue Jul 11 18:27 2006)

I have been on Wellbutrin 300mgSR for about 3 months and have been doing great, had blocked almost all panic attacks along with all the anxiety I was having. All the sudden I`ve noticed I`m like a lit fuse at all times. I`m blowing up at my husband over nothing screaming at my kids even throwing things (not at them) but in the presence! Therefore I went to the doctor to have my medicine decreased, so now I`m taking 150mg a day, which I`ve done fine with for the past week seems my irriatability has decreased somewhat, but now a new issue....I`m unbelievably anxious,I`m having hot flashes like constantly , then I`ll start to freeze then tremble my panic attacks are back to several times a day, I have upset stomach and major cramping! I am really at my wits end here, I`ve tried so many different meds and there`s also many I have to be careful with as I`m obsessed with my heartrate and anything that affects it. I see a therapist several times a month as I can`t afford to see her more! I have 3 small children whom deserve their mother back and a husband who`s equally frustrated. I also feel like the ugliest person , please anyone with ANY suggestions. I just want my life back.I`m only 24 years old and I don`t want to spend my whole life dealing with this...   (Wed Jul 5 16:58 2006)

pills by J.W.
I'm sorry, I was only on Zyprexa a short time. I was on the Seroquel for a few years.
I made a mistake in my first post.I don't want to gain a bunch of weight but I don't know what to do to feel better.    (Tue Jul 4 9:50 2006)

For a few years my doctor had me on Zyprexa. He refused to admit that this was causing my extreme weight gain until I had already gained 40 extra lbs in a short time. He switched me to Seroquel which allowed for me to drop 15 lbs but I never lost any more than that. He also had me taking Zoloft.
I didn't have insurance so he had been giving me sample packets. Anyway,he decided to no longer supply me with the meds so I had to stop taking Seroquel and Zoloft. Since I seemed to have more of the Zoloft here, I tapered slowly but still suffered withdrawal. Six months after being off both meds the extra 15 lbs of weight did not come off. I cut back on what I ate and got down to a reasonable weight after several months. Now, the OCD has returned and I have been taking Zoloft that my grandmother is prescribed but does not take. I take 2 of the 50 mg tabs a day just like before.
Problem is,when I wake in the morning, I am shaky before my first dose with heart palpitations. I can see already that trying to withdraw from it will be hard. I want to switch to Wellbutrin XL because Zoloft causes weight gain. Can I take the two together for a while just long enough to taper off of Zoloft and keep the Wellbutrin?      (Tue Jul 4 9:46 2006)
