A lot of our health issues, especially mental health are due to other medications and diet. I have learned always try to treat naturally and with food and supplements first.
They say they is no magic bullet. No magic pill. There is! I started treating my mental health issues with fish oil which helped quite a bit. 1000mg per day. Make sure it's pure-pay the extra money. Then I started with a B-Complex 50 twice a day. Felt even better. Then I advanced to inositol.
I started taking 125mg of inositol after reading a study about it and panic attacks.(I bought empty gel caps at Whole Foods and made four capsules out of one 500mg cap.) I started with 125mg once a day. At first I didn't sleep well, had a headache for a few days, but then it was awesome! Slept great. Felt calm, but had energy. Can drive by myself again! Feel more focused. Right now I take 250mg in the morning and 250mg at about 3. Can actually takes walks again. Keep increasing the dose slowly until you get to a point that works for you. If you start to feel some symptoms, raise it again Going to start with 375mg in am and 250mg at 3 and try the commuter train and a highway drive by myself. I feel normal again.
I do feel a bit tired from it, but nothing like all the anti-anxiety, anti-depressants and xanax. I can't imagine taking the dose they recommend for me and my size. Like I said, I do the kids dose. Working up to 500mg twice a day if I need it. So far, the low dose is working.
You can't take this with lithium and I believe a few other prescriptions not related to mental health. Any questions, email me. (Tue Jul 6 15:14 2010)
Have tried various sri drugs, seroquel, epival. NOTHING worked as effectively or as rapidly as 5 g of inositol. I took 1g in pill form (where I live this supplement is expensive) and made up the other 4 g in food. Thats a peanut butter sandwich on stoneground wheat with a large glass of grapefruit juice and 1 can of yellow wax beans. I was like a new person. No anxiety episodes, even when stressful things were actually taking place. (Tue Dec 1 2:22 2009)
#23046 by Nick. You say inositol helps with anxiety. How much do you take and how long for any relief? Thanks in advance for any information. (Thu Jan 25 0:09 2007)

Inositol has changed my life. It has helped control panic attacks, as well as unnecessary anxiety. I recommend this to anyone with severe panic/anxiety disorder. It is just as effective as medication. (Sun Apr 2 18:21 2006)
Am using with my teenage son now. Seems to be working very well to control panic attacks and high anxiety without any other mediction. Using 12 grams/day in divided doses. (Sun Feb 5 18:11 2006)
has anyone tried this? (Mon Jan 9 21:34 2006)
LOOK AT THIS SITE. IT IS FOR A SIMPLE VITAMIN.
tHERE IS NOT A SINGLE ENTRY.
WOULD WE RATHER FILL OUR BODIES WITH PILLS AND CRAP FROM THE ALREADY WEATHLY DRUG COMPANYS THAN TAKE A SIMPLE VITAMIN?
FOR CHRISTS SAKE HOW MANY OF US HAVE BEEN TOLD TO TAKE OUR VITAMINS EVERY DAY AND ESPECIALLY A B-100 - SINCE WE WERE KIDS.
PLEASE PLEASE READ THE TOP OF THE PAGE "HOW DOES IT WORKS?"
THIS IS ALL MOST OF US NEED, JUST VIT B. ADMITIDLY MANY NEED MUCH MORE BUT SIMPLE DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY CASES COULD SAVE YOURSELF OF LOT OF CRAP BY DOING WHAT MOM SAID....TAKE YOUR VITAMINS. (Mon Aug 8 15:35 2005)
